    Side Creek serves a diverse population of 500 PK-5 students in East Aurora. We exist to inspire a community of learner who are respectful, responsible and ready to develop the skills necessary to shape successful futures. ​Side Creek students believe they can achieve, learn and grow through communication and collaboration. Our staff is committed to partnering with students and families in support of this vision.

    Current Performance

    Overall math achievement at Side Creek is lagging both the district and state. There is a high percentage of students that are not making adequate growth. in 23-24 Iready Math Side Creek had a median percent progress towards Typical Growth of 83% There were 19% of students that made lesson than 19% growth towards the typical growth target.

    Priority Performance Challenge:  Students in K-5 struggle with low Math achievement

    Area of Focus: Math achievement


    Root Cause: Low Staff Expectations of Students and What They can Achieve Academically.

    NTP diagnostic review found low teacher expectations and a lack of strong instruction. Teacher beliefs that students can master standards in a year’s time is low. Academic performance has been low over the last two years. In 2021-22 there were large decreases school wide in all content areas. In 2022-23 there was improvement but in many areas Side Creek’s students are underperforming. More of the work needs to be put on students on a daily basis.

    Classroom observations using the IPG rubric as well as lesson plan reviews show that Side Creek students are not having the work of the lesson aligned to the standard on a consistent basis.
