    Additional Information about the school


    Westgate Elementary is a diverse neighborhood school serving Preschool- 5th grade located in Lakewood, CO. The focus at Westgate is building a school community that supports both the diversity of our students as well as their varied learning needs. We welcome families and encourage their support as partners in the education of their child(ren). Westgate students typically attend to 6-8th grades at Carmody Middle School or Bear K-8. Then most students go on to Bear Creek High School.

    We wanted to address all areas on our School Performance Framework that rated below Meets. We also address a K-3 READ goal for our school.

    Area of Focus: Early literacy


    Root Cause: Inconsistent Curriculum and Curriculum Implementation in Early Literacy

    Through systemic implementation of literacy curriculum, foundational skills K-3.

    Area of Focus: Other achievement


    Root Cause: Inconsistent Curriculum and Curriculum Implementation

    Through systemic implementation of literacy curriculum, foundational skills K-2 and comprehension 3-5, students will grow their foundational and comprehension reading skills and make progress toward grade-level standards. Through the systemic implementation of the district math curriculum students will improve their math growth and achievement.
