Windsor High School attendance policy implementation

Describe the research/evidence base supporting the strategy:

Evidence shows that implementation of an attendance policy in schools will increase the overall attendance rate. Establishing clear expectations (teacher clarity) has an effect size of 0.84 (Hattie). By developing and communicating our collective expectations for attendance at WHS, we are providing clarity around purpose and beliefs for impacted WHS stakeholders. We have established tiers of intervention that focus on early intervention, goal setting, and collective support, as opposed to punitive consequences.

    Strategy Category:

    Family and Community Engagement

    Associated Root Causes:

Student apathy with consistent attendance: Some WHS students don't value consistent attendance for all classes.
